Wet Christmas for golfers

Despite the knowledge that heavy rain was due for the second half of this competition, 16 intrepid ladies took part in Melton Mowbray Golf Club’s annual Christmas event on Sunday.

Liz Snow, Lady Captain Jackie Fisher and Lesley Twigg enjoying very welcome refreshments.

They enjoyed - just about - getting round nine holes and playing a best of two scores to count Stableford format.

Refreshments of hot drinks and mince pies were very welcome on the fifth tee, distributed by Santa’s helpers and helped to warm the hands and set the players up for the last five holes.

The winners with 34 points were Jane Berry, Rachel Reid and Jean Moulds.

Bettyne Norton, ‘Drina Terzza and ‘ghost’ Liz Snow finished second with 30 points while third placed went to Sally Hudson, Liz Clark and ‘ghost’ Jean Moulds with 29 points.
