Melton Mowbray Golf Club members take part in mixed am-am

Thirty-two players from Melton Mowbray Golf Club met at The Abbey Hotel and Spa near Redditch for the first round of the Am-Am Mixed competition on Sunday.

Each team of four recorded one gent’s and one ladies’ score as well as all those in the team who reached the par 3 greens in one.

The course had plenty of water traps, ditches and ponds, but luckily the weather held on both days for some well played golf.

The winning team on Day 1 were Haydn Snow, Nick McDonald, Janet Bentley and Nancy Denny with 73 points ocb.

Second was the team of James Denny, Al Terzza, Liz Snow and Maureen McCall with 73 points.

In third wereDavid Bentley, Jim McQuillan, Sue Millward and Chris Cook with 70 points.

Mike Hoggan hit two out of three par 3 greens as did Liz Snow and Dee Hughes.

On day two the top team with a superb 80 points were Phil Millward, Nick McDonald, Dee Hughes and Maureen McCall.

In second were the team of Paul Britton, Bill Fisher, Elaine Howarth and Margaret Smale with 73 points.

Third was Mike Hoggan, Ken Kirk, Jackie Fisher and Liz Snow with 72 points.

Both John Squires and ‘Drina Terzza hit the most par 3 greens on day 2.
