Gant's ton helps Thorpe Arnold CC to winning start

Thorpe won by 99 runs

Skipper Chris Waldron lost the toss and was asked to bat. Openers Andrew Keightley and Richard Garner made a solid start before both had departed by the 13th over.

Joe Gant and Jake Gillett took over with Gillett getting 81 and Gant 103 not out as they built a huge partnership of 184 for the third wicket with none of Barkston's bowlers spared the onslaught.

Once Gillett was out, skipper Chris Waldron continued in the same vein, hitting 29 in four overs as Thorpe finished on 258-3.

Barkston and Syston were never able to keep up with the rate with wickets falling regularly to most of the Thorpe bowlers.

Waldron and Joe Kendall were the most successful with two wickets apiece as Barkston could only reach 160 from their 40 overs.
