Wymeswold FC go top with Greenhill win

Wymeswold went top of North Leicestershire League Division One after edging a seven-goal at Greenhill on Saturday.

A Linford Harris hat-trick and Leo Coggan’s strike gave the villagers a 4-3 win at Greenhill YC Reserves, with Richard McLaughlin (2) and Jordan Ward replying for the hosts.

The result sent them above overnight leaders Sporting Markfield on goal difference, and three points clear of third-placed Cossington.

While many of the league fixtures were curtailed by rain, Bottesford came through their opening game of the Premier Cup, beating Sutton Bonington

2-1 thanks to goals from George Crowther and Luke Pinnoch.
