Tom Manship wants his Melton Town side to continue their positive start to the season - but knows Whittlesey Athletic will be no pushovers.

Town travel to Feldale Field on Saturday looking to build upon Tuesday’s 6-1 derby win over Holwell Sports.

But Whittlesey will offer a stern test, having recorded a win and three draws ahead of last night’s United Counties League Division One contest against Bourne Town.

“We want to carry on in the right way, being positive,” said Manship, looking forward to the Whittlesey contest.

“They’re a good team, a good strong team. We’ve seen that from the points they’ve taken off teams this season so far.

“I believe they took points off Bugbrooke, I believe they took points off Aylestone - they’re teams who were challenging last year.

“They’re a good team, it’ll be a difficult game."

With games arriving with regularity early on in this campaign, Manship is aiming to pick up win number four in the league season.

“The only positive to come out of this COVID epidemic is that the games come thick and fast,” he added.

“If you’ve had a performance where you need a reaction you can put it right.

“If you’re on a roll you can carry that roll on within 48 hours.”

Holwell Sports will return to action on Saturday, looking to end a four-game losing streak.

Bugbrooke St Michael will be the visitors to Welby Road.

Prior to Tuesday’s derby defeat to Town, Sports had suffered three 2-1 losses against Birstall United, St Andrews and Northampton Sileby Rangers.

Bugbrooke, however, will pose a stern test having lost just once in five contests this season.

Both of Saturday’s matches will kick off at 3pm.
