Melton Town signed off with a 6-0 win over Saffron Dynamo.

They moved up to second in the UCL Division One table in their final game before lockdown,.

Visitors Dynamo were languishing just outside the promotion places, so this in effect was a six pointer in the race for promotion.

Melton typically got off to the brighter start with some slick passing and fast movement.

The hosts took the lead with just three minutes on the clock.

A Bucalossi corner found Fray unmarked in the box, he chested the ball down and volleyed it into the roof of the net for his first of the season.

Twelve minutes in and a through ball was mis-kicked by Mian, only for it to land at Munton's feet his shot had Dynamos keeper blocking it with his feet.

Blanksby almost equalised when his header went just wide from a corner.

The game became a little scrappy with Saffron defending deep and Melton restricting them to long-distance shots which never troubled Peet in goal.

The only real chance came from a Dunn pass which dissected the defence but Munton's outstretched boot could only touch the ball onto Chapman in goal.

Then on the half hour Melton doubled their lead when a Manship corner to the back post was headed back into the danger zone by Bucalossi and be nodded in by Beaver.

Minutes later and it was three.

A great pass from Dunn behind the defence found Parsons clear on goal and he coolly slotted past Chapman.

A run from Fray and a cut back on the byline found Harris whose half volley skimmed the crossbar.

On 36 minutes a Manship free kick was perfectly placed onto the oncoming Fray, whose powerful header found the net.

It was five on the stroke of half time when a hopeful ball was played into the box and the defence stood static not spotting Harris coming around the back to slot past the keeper.

The second half became a stalemate as Saffron tightened up their defence but offered very little threat and Melton were content to pass the ball around confidently.

With 10 minutes to go the hosts stepped up a gear as they brought on their replacements.

Hammond received a pass from Harris and fired a shot just wide of bar and post.

Then he went on a run out wide and made his way to the edge of the area before letting go of a screamer which whistled across the goal missing the far post by inches.

Scott played in Blanksby for the visitors but although he was clear on goal his final shot went high and wide.

The final goal of the game looked bizarre.

A long ball out to Dunn had everyone on the pitch stopping, expecting a flag to go up.

Dunn was the first to react and he slotted past the keeper from 20 yards out.

The 6-0 scoreline was a fair reflection on the game.

Saffron offered very little and Melton took nearly all their chances and dominated the possession.
