The first-half strike against Harrow Borough made the BBC’s 10-strong shortlist for the best goals of the first round.

The Melton footballer burst into the right side of the 18-yard box and arrowed a half-volley into the top corner of the Harrow net to give the Cobblers an early lead against the non-league side.

It was Anderson’s third goal in as many games for Northampton who lie sixth in League One, and his fifth goal of the season in all since his transfer from Bradford on transfer deadline day.

The former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest player will be hoping for a good cup run after he was cup-tied and missed Northampton’s League Cup clash with Manchester United.
