Asfordby FC suffered their first defeat of the season away to Sileby Town Reserves on Saturday.

Brandon Hands scored to take Asfordby into the break at 1-1.

They then hit the post, missed a penalty and had three opportunities brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper before Sileby got their winner.

Following on from last week’s demolition of Cottesmore’s Development team it just goes to prove that no match is the same.

The result leaves Asfordby three points clear at the top of the table as they head to Thurnby Rangers Development on Saturday.

Asfordby Development went down 2-1 at home to Mountsorrel FC leaving them sixth in the league after seven games.

Dylan Hill had to depart the game early through injury after running through on the Mountsorrel keeper from the left hand side.

Mountsorrel took the lead 10 minutes before half time after a long ball was collected and slotted past Reed in the Asfordby goal.

Charlie Richards struck a quick reply from 25 yards into the bottom corner to take Asfordby into half time level.

Asfordby gave away a penalty 15 minutes into the second half which was converted to give Mountsorrel the lead again.

Goalkeeper Karl Reed was called into action soon after making a good save from a header that was goal bound.

Max Carroll fired wide with 10 minutes remaining before a header was cleared off the line following a Rhys Hill corner.

Asfordby Development welcome Woodhouse Imperial Reserves to Hoby Road next Saturday.

It was a good weekend for Asfordby’s youth sides as the U14 Eagles, U14 Falcons and U15 Foxes all won to go joint top of their respective leagues.

The U14 Eagles won 2-0 at home to old rivals Oadby Owls in a very strong team performance.

The U14 Falcons won 4-3 at home against Hilton Harriers scoring their winner with the last kick of the game.

The U15 Foxes won 2-1 away to Carib S&S FC to keep up their strong start to the season. The future looks bright at Asfordby.
