The girls started off with a comfortable 2-0 win against Catmose, courtesy of goals from Sarah Brown and Alisha De’ath-Eccles.

Brown also got on the scoresheet in the next game against Belvoir which was enough to give Ferneley a narrow 1-0 victory.

A comfortable 4-1 win against Uppingham with goals from Brown, De’ath-Eccles, Fiona Triggs and Sarah Anderson meant Ferneley only had to draw their last game against pre-competition favourites Casterton to win the title.

Emily Morrison had a great game marking Casterton’s star striker out of the game and the team were indebted to goalkeeper Izzy Harrison who made a brilliant save when the scores were level.

But Bethan Saffhill’s double, allied to another Brown strike, were enough to give Ferneley a 3-1 victory.

As Melton and Rutland champions, Ferneley now go through to the county futsal finals in March.
