Holwell Sports Reserves up to seventh with Saffron win

Holwell Sports Reserves held to win a high-scoring Senior League match by the odd goal in seven at Saffron Dynamo Reserves on Thursday evening.

The match took place before the first wholescale suspensions of fixtures were announced, but it seemed both sides were looking to cash in before a ban kicked in as they served up an entertaining clash.

Spectators were treated to five goals in a first half which Jon Allsop’s side edged 3-2.

And the teams traded a goal apiece after the break as Holwell held on to record their 10th Division One win of the season.

Andra Wilson made it three goals in four games with a double, while Mark Cowling and Adam Wright also found the net.

Callum Briers, Corey Nelson and Jamie Simons replied for the hosts.
