Holwell Sports will be looking for their first three points in the United Counties League Supplementary Cup when they host St Andrews on Saturday.

Neil Miller’s side will be desperate to bounce back following the weekend’s 8-0 defeat at Aylestone Park in Group A of the Kingfisher Lighting Division One Cup.

Now, as Sports return to Welby Road for their first competitive match since October 24’s 5-0 victory over Irchester, they will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Miller - who has previously stated he will use the competition to get his entire squad primed for the start of next season - accepts his side could be the underdogs in the five-team group, but the desire to win is still there.

“If you look at how the season finished, ourselves and Lutterworth (Athletic) were the bottom two teams in that, Saffron (Dynamo) just ahead of us,” he said.

“Aylestone and St Andrews were in that top six and I know that Lutterworth (Athletic) have already strengthened their squad, they’ve made their moves early.

“We’re well aware we’re coming into this as underdogs.

“We want to play good football, pick up points and get through to the semi finals, but we just need to be clear this is about a collective group of 24 lads getting ready for next season.”

St Andrews will also be keen to get off the mark having been beaten 3-1 at home by Lutterworth at the weekend.

Elsewhere in Group A this Saturday, Saffron Dynamo play their first match in the competition at Lutterworth.
