Holwell Sports book landmark Senior County Cup final on penalties

Holwell Sports reached their first Senior County Cup final in 17 years on Tuesday evening after a penalty shoot-out win over Heather St Johns.

A thrilling semi-final ended locked at 2-2 before John Webster’s side came through 4-1 on penalties against the Midland League Division One side.

Holwell will now face Heather’s league rivals Leicester Road in the final on Tuesday, May 2 at County FA’s Holmes Park headquarters in Leicester.

It is the first time the Asfordby Hill side have reached the senior county final since the 1999/2000 season when they lost to Coalville Town.

Sports have lifted the cup just three times in their history, the last time coming almost 60 years ago in the 1957/58 campaign.
