"They have gone through the lowest of lows results wise, come out the other side and shown what determination and hard work can get you.

"They fully deserve to win the league alongside Breaston who are also a very good side."

Results elsewhere saw the U15 Foxes beat AFC Andrews Vikings 7-1, the U15 Colts go down away at GNG Lions and the U14 Eagles and U13 Vikings lose out to very good sides in Glenfield United and Quorn Juniors respectively.

Asfordby’s first team travelled to Ashby Ivanhoe Knights in round two of the Everards Tiger League Cup on Tuesday night.

Asfordby started strongly with Linford Harris finishing from close range after a Luke Howitt free kick.

Danny Robinson floated another free kick over on 20 mins which was narrowly headed over by Harris.

Ashby equalised on 35 mins after a quick break, good cross and cool finish past Lewis Barrett in the Asfordby goal.

Harris was brought down in the box just before half time which was adjudged not to be a foul.

Ashby started the second half well, forcing Barrett into a great reaction save early before taking the lead with a header at the back post from a corner.

Asfordby pushed back and grew stronger towards the end making chances to equalise.

George Torr had the best of those chances just heading over from a good cross by substitute Adam Lauchlan five minutes before the final whistle.

Asfordby’s Development side travelled to Barlestone St Giles Reserves in the supplementary cup competition, coming away with a good point.
