Overdue win achieved as Egerton Park shine with the bat at Oakham
Egerton Park finally got the Leicestershire & Rutland League Premier Division victory that recent performances have deserved, as a magnificent batting display set up a comprehensive 31-run win away at Oakham.
It ended what had been a frustrating barren run of near misses for Tom Glover's promoted side at the top level.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Park produced their most complete display of the season with the willow.
Openers Rahul Tandel and Vijal Vinay fell cheaply, but what followed was a masterclass in middle-order batting that will live long in the memory of those who made the trip to Oakham.
Mayur Chauhan was the first to shine, playing with exceptional fluency to reach 50 from 63 balls before eventually falling for a superb 85 — an innings laced with 14 fours and a six.
But it was the partnership between Chauhan and skipper Tom Glover that truly set Park alight.
The pair added a magnificent century stand, laying the foundation for a total that would always put pressure on the home side.
Glover, batting with increasing authority, went on to reach his own half century before continuing to press on, ultimately falling for a brilliant 90 from 101 balls — including nine fours and four sixes — one of the finest innings seen in a Park shirt this season.
Australian Justin Beaton then launched a brutal late assault to carry Park to 279-6, a total that gave the bowlers every chance.
And the bowlers delivered. Justin Beaton led the attack superbly with three wickets, while Mahir Manilal was equally impressive with 3-51.
Abhishek Machhi provided excellent support with two wickets as Oakham, despite fighting hard, were bowled out for 248 with over seven overs to spare.
After so many heartbreaking near misses — including the three-run defeat to Loughborough Town the previous week — the victory was greeted with enormous relief and celebration.
The character of this Park side has never been in question.
Now, with a second Premier Division win on the board and growing confidence throughout the squad, the second half of the season holds genuine promise.
