HINCKLEY AMATEURS SECOND XI v EGERTON PARK SECOND XI

Hinckley won by 8 wkts

A BELOW-strength second team travelled to Hinckley on Saturday.

Once the home side won the toss they had no hesitation in asking Park to bat first with the ground still very damp from Thursday’s storm.

With Marshall and Woolcock both out in the third over, it was youngster Charlie Read who came to the rescue with a mature innings of 28 in a third wicket stand of 42 with veteran Eddie Cham.

Wickets fell regularly until Tom Barnard and Michael Dover-Jaques shared an unbroken partnership of 22 in five overs to take Park past the 100 mark and secure two batting points.

Tom Barnard picked up an early wicket to give Park a glimmer of hope, but in the drying conditions 105 was never going to be enough as Hinckley cruised to victory in the 27th over.
