Brown leads Barkby United to victory, success for Syston Town and Sloss the boss for Croxton Kerrial

Barkby United left Wreake Nomads with a seven run victory in the Grantham and Melton Cricket Association Division One on Sunday.

Tim Brown (55), Ben Hollis (23), Henry Mount (20) and Charlie Loftus (18) helped the away side to 170 for 9.

In response, Wreake were dismissed for 163, Jack Johnson and Freddie Hammond both taking three wickets and Joshua Grant adding two.

Queniborough were beaten by 159 runs as they hosted Grantham.

The visitors posted 270 for 4 before Queniborough were dismissed for 111.

Mohamed Imran Gheewala (34), Vishal Rana (27), Devang Rana (20) and Piyush Rana (15) all scored well for Queniborough.

In the Grantham and Melton Cricket Association Division Two, Syston Town won by four wickets at Stamford Town.

Ben Tebbutt and Muhammad Salajee both took two wickets as the hosts ended their innings on 165 for 4.

With the bat, Salajee’s unbeaten 64 top scored while support came from Asad Khan Pathan (38), Simran Supra (27) and Ayaan Pathan (17 not out) as Syston reached 169 for 6 in the 34th over.

Croxton Kerrial earned an eight wicket success when they hosted Market Overton.

Fraser Sloss took five wickets for the loss of 15 runs as the away team were back in the pavilion with just 37 runs on the board, no player reaching double figures.

Croxton Kerrial reached 38 for 2 in the 12th over.

Jack Dolloway top scored with an unbeaten 17.

Tuesday’s Burrough and District Evening League Division One action saw Barkby United beat visitors Belvoir by three wickets.

In the Burrough and District Evening League Division Two, Egerton park won by four wickets at Ashby Carington but Queniborough’s home contest with Great Dalby was abandoned.

The weekend’s rainfall played havoc with the local cricket schedule.

Thorpe Arnold, Egerton Park, Melton Mowbray, Syston Town, Barkby United, Queniborough, Belvoir and Croxton Kerrial all saw their matches washed out on Saturday, with some Sunday games also falling foul.
