Belvoir CC juniors target cup after league triumph

Belvoir CC juniors are gunning for a league and cup double after wrapping up the Newark Colts Youth League title last week.

The four Under 11s Newark Colts division winners– Coddington and Winthorpe, Belvoir U11s, Burton Joyce and Belvoir U10s – all qualified for the League Finals Day on Sunday at Knipton to decide the trophy winners.

Belvoir U11s first had to overcome their Under 10s clubmates, and did so in a closely-fought semi-final.

Coddington and Winthorpe defeated Burton Joyce in a similarly close last four tie to set up the final.

The home side won the toss and decided to bat first and set a challenging total of 115-3.

Coddington and Winthorpe set about the run chase with gusto, hitting two boundaries off the first two balls of their reply.

However, wickets began to fall regularly and they fell short on 108-10.

Having lifted the league trophy, Belvoir U11s next have a cup final to look forward to against Caythorpe who defeated Kinoulton in the semi-finals.
