Barkby run chase fall short in Colonel Martin Cup

NEWBOLD made 114-5 from 18 overs with Ian Cooper (2 for 19) the pick of the bowlers.

Barkby’s innings started badly with Ian Kirk bowled for nine. Pook and James Kirk took the score to 43 before Kirk was out for 11.

Hendry was dismissed for 0, but Martin Troop and Pook took the score to 73 before Pook was caught for 37. Troop and Eales tried to catch up with the run rate, Eales striking two successive sixes in his 19 not out.

Troop finished on 23 not out, but Barkby’s innings closed on 102-5, short by 13 runs.
