Charging Duce wins latest Summer Series

THE wind was force four, blustery with the odd shower as 10 boats lined up for the seventh race in Melton Sailing Club’s Summer Series.

Jacob Duce finally hunted down and passed Adam Rowlatt in the final two minutes of what was a very close race.

Results (after handicaps): 1 Jacob Duce, 2 Adam Rowlatt, 3 Julian Rowlatt, 4 Dave Arthur, 5 Charles Robertson, 6 Chris Myatt and Chris Duce, 7 Duncan and Angela Rennie, 8 Niall and Jake Rennie, 9 Ed Maxfield, 10 Luke Wadding.

Race officer was Alex Maxﬁeld, assisted by John Cline and Bill Ridlington.

* In the eighth race of the President’s Trophy series, David Arthur took a commanding lead from the first lap and held on to the lead to win by around a minute, on corrected time, from Jacob Duce.

Despite a very slow start which saw them dead last for many minutes, Chris and Jill Duce battled hard to claim fifth place by a second on corrected time.
