Belvoir Vale and Syston off the mark in Triples League

Belvoir Vale and Syston Bowls Club both bounced back from opening defeats to record wins in the second weekend of the Warren Triples League at Melton Indoor Bowls Club on Saturday.

Vale made a good start in their match with Melton Bowls and had forged a 17-shot lead by the 10th end.

The Melton team pushed hard to close the gap, but the Hose-based club kept on the pressure until the end to take the win by 18 shots.

But they were denied maximum points as Melton Bowlers took one rink win.

Syston took control of their meeting with Barnstone from the start and by the halfway mark were 13 shots in front.

But Barnstone staged a terrific fightback and pulled to within one shot at the end with the four rinks shared.
