Comedian and presenter Adil Ray has revealed that he will co-host Good Morning Britain throughout the rest of April, appearing on the ITV breakfast show from Monday to Wednesday each week.

Ray, 46, will replace Piers Morgan, who left the programme last month following a fallout over his comments about Megan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The comedian has presented the breakfast show on a number of previous occasions, and will present the show alongside Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway.

Ray took to Twitter to share his good news with fans, writing: “Some news for you….I will be co hosting Good Morning Britain throughout the whole of April Mon to Weds, starting this Monday with Kate Garraway and with Susanna Reid after the hols.

“I would love for you to make it your daily wake up if you fancy it!”

However, ITV director of television Kevin Lygo told Deadline earlier this week that you “can’t replace” Morgan, but he added current presenters of GMB will be “stepping up and doing a few more days than they would have done.”

The show will “mix and match” its current line-up until a more permanent solution to Morgan’s departure is found, Mr Lygo said.

Why did Piers Morgan leave Good Morning Britain?

Morgan, 56, clashed with fellow presenter Alex Beresford on the show regarding comments made about the Duchess of Sussex after her interview with Oprah Winfrey - which aired in early March - before he stormed off set.

A statement released by ITV to announce Morgan’s departure from the show last month said: “Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
