Woman (50) dies following A606 collision near Melton

A 50-year-old woman has died following a collision at a junction on the A606 near Melton which has seen a number of crashes in recent months.

She sadly died in hospital on Sunday, nine days after the incident, which happened at the junction with Six Hills Lane, between Ab Kettleby and Nether Broughton.

Police have not given any details on her name or where she lived at this stage.

Officers were called at 6.22pm on July after reports that a black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Vauxhall Corsa had been in collision.

The victim was a passenger in the Golf and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham ,with serious injuries.

Det Con Kasie Carter said: “Sadly a woman has died in hospital following the collision which happened on July 2.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing establishing the full circumstances of the collision and we have been speaking to a number of witnesses.

“We do ask however that if anyone does have any information in relation to the incident and has not yet spoken to us that you ensure you make contact with us.

“This includes anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision, anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone who has dashcam footage from the area at the time.”

No other serious injuries were reported following the collision.

We reported yesterday (Monday) that a motorcyclist had been taken to hospital with a serious injury following a collision with a van yesterday morning at the same junction as the incident which led to the woman’s death.
