Witness appeal after man found seriously injured in car near Melton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a collision off the A46 near Melton.

Officers were called to the single-car incident, near Ratcliffe on the Wreake, at 7.40am on Sunday following a report of a purple Ford Fiesta car being found in a ditch in the area of Broome Lane, near to the main route.

A man in his 50s was found to be inside the vehicle and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, by ambulance where he remains with serious injuries.

Leicestershire Police say enquiries are ongoing into the incident and detectives are appealing for anyone with any information in relation to the incident to make contact.

Det Sgt Ed Des-Chanelle said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances leading up to this collision.

“If you were in the area on Sunday morning, please think back to any information you might have regarding the vehicle before or after the incident.

“If you have any information in relation to the collision itself, you should also make contact.

“We are also urging anyone with any dashcam footage from the area to check this and get in touch with us.”
