Times Past: Do you recognise faces in old Brownlow School photo?

Melton man John Shilham is seeking help to identify some of the pupils in this photo which was taken at the old Brownlow School in around 1955-57.

Mr Shilham (69) came across the picture while going through the belongings of his late mother who died a few years ago. Aged eight or nine at the time, John is the pupil pictured third from the left on the back row.

With the help of some of the other former Brownlow pupils pictured he’s been able to put names to most of the faces but there are six that remain a mystery.

He said: “Most of the people in the picture still live in the town and I’m still in touch with about six or seven of them. The old Brownlow School used to be where the library is now.”
