Teenager killed in B676 collision near Melton is named by police

A teenager who died in a car crash on the B676 Saxby Road near Melton on Monday (April 11) has been named by police.

Gregory Barnes (18), from Wymondham, was driving a black Ford Fiesta which was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Mondeo. It happened at 6.40pm, about 200m south of the junction with Brentingby.

Greg sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dc 4484 Alison Ide, from the East Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The Fiesta was travelling along Saxby Road towards Melton and the Mondeo was travelling in the opposite direction when they were involved in the collision.

“If you were travelling along the B676 on Monday night and saw the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand and have not already spoken to us then please get in touch.”
