Sam’s legacy to live on in new charity

THE family of a Melton woman who died in tragic circumstances last December are honouring her memory through charity work.

The Sam Day Foundation was launched at Market Overton Feast Weekend by her parents John and Janet Neal.

John had his ponytail cut off and his head shaved - before promptly winning a bottle of shampoo on the tombola! – while Janet ran a stall. They raised £350 and James, one of Sam’s brothers, has also put his beloved 1989 VW Scirocco up for sale.

All monies raised will go towards organising trips and treats for families in need in Melton and Rutland to give them quality time together.

Janet said: “Market Overton is the family home so it was fitting to launch the charity here.”

The weekend featured a concert, food festival, church flower festival, hog roast, strawberry teas and a scarcrow trail.
