Members of Churches Together in Melton, including street pastors and community chaplains made shoppers in the Market Place feel like celebrities for the day by handing out V.I.P golden tickets and letting them walk on a red carpet.

The tickets enabled recipients to interact with each other and learn more about Christianity.

The event which took place on Saturday was jointly organised by Churches Together and Melton Community Chaplaincy to highlight the contribution local churches make to the community.

Other community groups affiliated to Churches Together are the Child Contact Centre, where separated parents can meet their children and Storehouse at The Fox Inn, which provides food, clothing and support to those in need.

There is also Prospects, who offer spiritual and social support to people with learning difficulties and the summer community family lunch and fun days, where church volunteers work in partnership with Sure Start Centre staff at Fairmead and The Edge, to promote healthy eating and life styles.

The Melton Community Chaplaincy team can be contacted by email at [email protected] or on 07542770578.

Further information about local churches and groups can be found on the Churches Together website at www.ctimm.org.uk
