Melton and Rutland MP meets youth counterpart

Raising awareness of mental health was the main talking point when the Right Honourable Sir Alan Duncan met his Youth Parliament counterpart at Uppingham Community College.

Abi Lovering and Melton and Rutland’s MP discussed the campaigns that are being run by the Youth Parliament.

Nationally, the Youth Parliament is campaigning against racism and religious discrimination and locally members of the Youth Parliament are continuing their campaign, started last year, on mental health awareness.

Sir Alan said: “I was enormously impressed by Abi and her work in the Youth Parliament. She is passionate and effective in raising the issues that are important to her and other young people. We are lucky to have such an enthusiastic local representative.

“I look forward to visiting the college again soon to meet Abi and her colleagues soon.”
