Nine prohibition notices were issued and five vehicles were seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

A HMRC road fuel testing unit - to make sure fuel used by vehicles was legal - was also used in the operation.

A Melton Police spokesman said: “The operation was very successful. Road safety is very important with dangerous vehicles, uninsured drivers, mobile phone users and other offenders causing collisions and raising the cost of insurance policies for all of us.”
