Woman's pub head shave raises £4k for cancer charity

More than £4,000 has now been raised by a woman who had her head shaved at a village pub.

Sara Greenwood took on the challenge on Easter Sunday, at The Rose & Crown at Hose, for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Her ‘Brave the Shave’ was intended to support a close friend who is being treated for cancer.

Janet Gilchrist, of the Melton Macmillan branch, said: “This was an incredible effort on the part of Sara and she was supported by friends, family and her hairdresser.

“Sara has been amazed by the money which was raised on the day - people in the pub came forward to donate, also Barclays Bank and some ex-colleagues who are backing her cause.

“After the big day, money has continued to trickle in to give her a total of £.4118.50 for Macmillan.

“This will be used to help people who have cancer and their families as they care and support them.”
