The company gave an update yesterday (Monday) on the latest situation with the road surface needing to be reinstated after the pipe has been repaired.

A Severn Trent spokesperson told the Melton Times: “We’d like to thank everyone for their continued patience while we’ve been working hard throughout the weekend to return the road back to normal.

“We understand temporary road closures like this can be frustrating, which is why we’re doing everything we can to finish the job as quickly as possible.”

And Leicestershire County Council has today agreed to extend the Temporary Traffic Regulation Order there for three further days.

A spokesperson said: “This emergency road closure required on Sherrard Street will now extend until November 12 due to the type and extent of the resurfacing works required.

“This Temporary Traffic Regulation Order has been implemented for public safety to enable Severn Trent Water and their contractors to undertake

repairs to a burst water main.

“The proposed alternative diversion route is signed on site.

“Leicestershire County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during these works.”
