Travellers on Melton town centre car park set to be evicted
Preparations are being made to evict a group of travellers who have parked around 20 caravans on a Melton town centre car park.
The party are understood to have initially been on land at the Sysonby Acres camp site and golf course on Asfordby Road before being moved to Wilton Road under police escort on Saturday evening.
A spokesperson for the Leicestershire Multi-Agency Traveller Unit said: “We are aware of travellers on the Wilton Road car park site.
“We have started the proceedings to have them evicted.”
A similar-sized group of travellers parked on the same car park eight months ago before moving on before eviction proceedings were needed.
