Teenagers in Melton raise cash for two good causes

A group of 16 and 17-year-olds taking part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme had the opportunity to use the life skills they have learned to throw a fun family day in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation and testicular cancer charity Oddballs.

The event at Egerton Park included an obstacle course, cake stalls, children’s games and a raffle with a star prize of two season tickets to visit Melton’s Twinlakes Theme Park.

One of the teenagers Will Robinson (16) said: “We’re not sure exactly how much we’ve raised for the charities because all will be revealed at our graduation evening at the end of August. However, we set ourselves a target of raising £100 for the charities which we hope we’ve achieved.

“Our group, Team 6, mainly consisted of teenagers from Melton. On the day, we all went round with collection buckets asking people for donations as they arrived.

“There were around 50 people, children and adults, who attend the event. A big thank you to all who helped make the day a success.”
