Stunning photos entered for Melton Lions calendar competition

The judges - including Melton Times’ Nick Rennie - had in excess of 70 entries to view, from which they selected 20 photos containing two category winners (under-15 and over-15).

The remaining 18 entries were put on Facebook with a request to the public to vote on their favourites.

The 10 most popular ‘Likes’ over the week completed the 12 photos for the calendar.

The under 15 winner was Oliver Francis (aged 14) with his photo titled ‘Walkies’; he will receive a £25 prize.

The 15 and over category and overall winner was Margaret Shufflebotham with ‘Waiting for the sun to set’; she will receive £25 plus her overall winner prize of £75.

Presentation of the prizes will be arranged when social distancing restrictions allow.

Every entrant who made it into the final print will receive a copy of the calendar as a thank you.

The calendar has gone to the printers for production and will be on sale at £5 each.

Once current Covid restrictions are eased, free delivery of the calendars will be made within five miles of the town. If anyone wants them posting this will incur an additional cost.

As many of the usual fund-raising events in 2020 have had to be cancelled, all profits from this will go towards the Melton Mowbray Lions Club charity account.
