The two-day festival held in the Market Place on Friday and Saturday was such a success that organisers plan on expanding the event next year.

Shelagh Core, BID manager, said: “We would like to add more variety, perhaps looking at making it into a little market and running the event over three days.

“For a first go it was a great success and something very unique too.”

A giant Bavarian Bierkeller opened from noon on both days, offering German draught beer and grub such as Frankfurters and Bratkartoffeln.

Live music on Friday night was provided by The Bierkeller Schunklers, a traditional Bavarian German Oompah band, and the Playtime Band performed a variety of songs and styles for all age groups on Saturday evening.

Shelagh added: “We had to bring The Bierkeller Schunklers inside because the weather was bad on Friday, but on Saturday everyone enjoyed themselves outside.”
