Nearly 50 drivers caught speeding on two village roads near Melton

Police caught nearly 50 drivers speeding through 30mph zones in villages near Melton as part of an enforcement campaign.

The speed gun captured 24 offending drivers on the A606 at Ab Kettleby in just 110 minutes while the same number of motorists were also identified driving too quickly along the B6047 on Thorpe Satchville Road at Twyford inside three hours and 28 minutes.

A further 14 speeding motorists were caught out on roads elsewhere in the borough, including seven on the A606 Nottingham Road at Melton, four on the A607 at Hoby and Rotherby and three on Main Street, Great Dalby.

Drivers were observed to be obeying the speed limit on the A607 Melton Road at Waltham, however, where no speeders were captured by the speed gun in the 110 minutes officers were present.

Melton Police said they carried out the campaign during August in response to concerns raised by residents and through Neighbourhood Link Surveys, social media and face-to-face Interaction.
