Minister opens £7m Dogs Trust rehoming centre

A GOVERNMENT minister has officially opened the Dogs Trust rehoming centre at Wymeswold, with a little help from local schoolchildren.

Lord Taylor of Holbeach, Defra minister for aninal welfare, joined other guests to celebrate the opening of the £7m centre, one of the greenest of its kind in the world, on Friday.

The team at the centre, which features everything from a biomass boiler and rainwater recycling system to solar panels and a wind turbine, aims to find loving homes for 1,000 unwanted dogs a year.

In terms of animal welfare the new centre features a hydrotherapy room, glass fronted kennels to reduce stress and noise for the dogs, a veterinary suite and several exercise areas designed to keep the dogs healthy and mentally stimulated.
