Melton town bailiff retires

Melton’s town bailiff has stepped down from the role after 16 years service.

Andrew Cooper has been a familiar face at the street markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays, ensuring their smooth running on behalf of Melton Mowbray Town Estate.

He has also managed the town parks and the town estate’s other facilities.

As Mr Cooper stepped down this week he was congratulated on his service by other leading members of the town estate.

Chair of feoffees, John Southeringon, said: “Andrew has been an outstanding town bailiff.

“He is been there at the market very early in the morning come rain,snow or sunshine. His will be difficult shoes to fill.”

William Boulding, also known as Billy, takes over as new town bailiff.
