Melton Mowbray Young Farmers dinner dance rasies £630 for air ambulance

The annual dinner dance held by Melton Mowbray Young Farmers has recently raised £630 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

Over 200 people who attended the event at the Market Tavern enjoyed a three course meal, after dinner games and an auction.

The auction featured some excellent prizes that local businesses had donated. Prizes included two tickets from the Belvoir Hunt to their Midsummer Madness Ball and junior ball, a portrait session and print from Whitehouse Photography, and a turkey from Chandlers.

The dinner dance was supported by estate agents Bentons and Brown & Co who donated funds to cover the costs and make sure as much money as possible was raised for the club and the county federation of young farmers.

Olivia Parry, Melton Mowbray Young Farmers Club, secretary, said: “As a charity that lost their government grant this year we are now more than ever dependent on fundraising which is of course best done with the help of the local community.

“Young Farmers is a club that is unlike any other, and as a member who has benefitted greatly from it in terms of friendship and support, I would never want things to change because of financial short comings.”

Melton Mowbray Young Farmers are always on the lookout for new members. They meet weekly on a Tuesday evening. Anyone who is aged between 12-26 is invited to attend.
