Melton Mowbray Marie Curie Fundraising Group's tea party raises £229 for the terminal illness care charity

Members of the Melton Mowbray Marie Curie Fundraising Group made and served tea, coffee and cakes on Saturday, to raise much needed funds for the terminal illness care charity.

Their Blooming Great Tea Party was held outside the town’s Marie Curie charity shop in the Market Place and raised £229.

Chairperson of the fundraising group, Lesley Stevenson, said: “We had a wonderful party serving tea to the people of Melton in exchange for a small donation.

“Outside the shop we set up tables and chairs and many people visited us throughout the day.

“We’d like to thank the people of Melton for supporting the event and we’re hoping to host another day like it in September.”

Marie Curie is encouraging people to host a Blooming Great Tea Party between June 20-29.
