Melton Mowbray comedian looking forward to performing back on home turf
Melton Mowbray comedian Jon Pearson is looking forward to performing back on home turf this weekend at a gig at the town’s Stockyard.
Jon is on the latest Just The Tonic Comedy Club bill alongside TV and film star, Angelos Epithemiou, Patrick Monahan and Tadiwa Mahlunge, with tickets still available.

"It’s been a while since I’ve performed in Melton so I’m looking forward to it,” Jon told the Melton Times.
"We are all very different as comedians so there will be something for everybody and it should be a good night.”
Jon, who is 43, was born in Melton and educated at the town’s Brownlow Primary School, John Ferneley College and the former King Edward VII School.
He initially worked in IT before deciding to taking a comedy course but his career on stage had a mixed beginning back in 2011.
“The first one wasn’t too bad because it was in front of 200 friends and family,” Jon recalled.
“I loved it and caught the bug but then my second ever gig I died on my backside – I had a really bad one.
“It made me want to do it more though. It pushed me to be better because I knew I could do better than that.
“It happens to all of us.”
Many will remember Jon’s regular comedy nights at the Noels Arms in Melton and he has also had sold out gigs at Melton Theatre.
One of the biggest challenges he faced was the Covid pandemic when performers had to instead perform to audiences online via Zoom.
He was on the bill at an outdoor gig on a Great Dalby farm as restrictions were gradually eased.
Jon says his local connections will doubtless play a part in his performance on Saturday.
"I get involved with the crowd a lot, I do a lot of improvisation with the audience based on what they are talking to me about,” he added.
Doors open for Saturday’s show at the Stockyard, on Scalford Road, at 6.30pm with the show set to begin at 7.30pm.
