Melton family raise petition after death of Jack (23)
Jack Morrison, who was a scrap metal trader in the town, died at the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, almost exactly 12 months ago after taking an overdose.
His family say he had suffered long term emotional abuse involving someone who was not a member of the family which had made him depressed.

They feel his life could have been saved if the circumstances of his unhappiness could have been investigated differently and so they raised an online petition calling for a review of how such abuse cases are prosecuted.
More than 2,000 people have so far added their signatures with the government pledging to respond if it reaches 10,000 and a parliamentary debate to take place if 100,000 sign it.
Jack’s sister, Summer, told the Melton Times: “Losing Jack has literally torn our family apart.
“We are doing all this because we don’t want others to suffer like he did and another family go through what we’ve gone through.
“I don’t want him to have died for nothing.

“We also want to raise awareness that men do get abused as well as women.”
He had collapsed shortly after Summer had arrived to visit him and died later in hospital.
St Mary’s Church, in Melton, was packed for Jack’s funeral last March, shortly before the coronavirus lockdown came in.
He is buried in the Thorpe Road cemetery and his disraught mother visits his grave twice a day.

Summer has fond memories of her brother adding: “He was very cheeky lad and he was loved by everyone.
“He had a heart of gold.”
