Long-serving Brownlow Primary School teachers bid farewell after collectively clocking up more than 40 years' service

Lynne Cliff and Teresa Woods shared their happy memories with current and former colleagues at a tea party held in the school’s new dining room on Monday.

Mrs Cliff, who finished this week, started at Brownlow back in 1997. She has most recently worked part-time as reading recovery teacher. Before that she worked full-time as a special educational needs co-ordinator, her role for some 17 years. She also served as the school’s acting deputy headteacher for 18 months before the appointment of current headteacher Damien Turrell.

Mrs Woods started at Brownlow in 1993. Last year she was seconded to St Francis Catholic Primary School for two days a week and now she’s made the move permanent, teaching there two days a week in various areas.

Mrs Woods worked as a Year 5 teacher at Brownlow two days a week for about a year. For most of her years at the school she worked as a key stage manager. Her other roles have included science co-ordinator as well as working in areas to do with the environment, design and technology.

Mrs Cliff said: “It’s very sad to be going. I have lots of happy memories and I’ve made lots of good friends here. The comradeship at Brownlow has been second to none.”

Mrs Woods added: “I will miss the relationships with the parents, staff and children and the conversations and fun we had.”

Mr Turrell said: “It’s impossible to measure the positive impact that Mrs Cliff and Mrs Woods have had upon generations of Brownlow children.

“I think the school will definitely notice their absence but the door is always open. They will always be part of the Brownlow community. We wish them both health and happiness for the future.”
