Little princess Olivia from Nether Broughton to donate her hair to charity

A little girl from Nether Broughton hopes to raise enough sponsorship money to pay for a wig for a child who has lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Not only that, the 11-year-old is donating her own locks to the cause.

Olivia Garney, who attends Old Dalby Primary School, will have her hair cut by her mother Melanie Rhodes, a hairdresser, on the last day of the school term (February 12).

She said: “I’m looking forward to it. “I‘m hoping to donate at least 10 inches of my hair to the charity. Thanks so much for all the donations so far.”

Olivia has set up a fundraising page on the Justgiving website. She has raised around £265 so far but intends to hit a target of £350, which is the amount it costs the Little Princess Trust to purchase a wig.

Acting headteacher at Old Dalby Primary School, Rosie Browne, said: “The staff and pupils are very proud of Olivia.

“It’s lovely to see one of our own pupils doing something like this that they’re passionate about and for charity.”
