Freemasons give cash to hospice near Melton and two other regional hospices

An award of £500, was presented to Dove Cottage Day Hospice in Stathern, which offers palliative care and support to people living with advanced progressive life limiting illness.

Manager Chris Gatfield said: “On behalf of everyone at Dove Cottage, I would like to thank the Freemasons very much indeed for supporting us.

“It has been now 20 years that Dove Cottage has been providing hospice day care in the north west of Leicestershire. We support 100 families each week and last year we opened a second unit to support people in the Rutland area.”

The organisation made a donation of £5,437 to Leicester Hospice Charity LOROS and Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, in Loughborough, was given £2,218. The event was hosted by the Provincial Grand Master, David Hagger, at Freemasons’ Hall in Leicester.

Mr Hagger said: “I’m proud and delighted that through the Masonic Charitable Foundation, we have been able to make a contribution to our local communities by supporting these worthwhile hospices providing essential care.”
