The skydiving group including Caroline Chilcott (50), Amy Stroud (27), Liam Chapman (25) and George Harris (17) took to the skies above Langar Airfield, before plunging down to Earth at high speed.

Georgina Steward, who works at Dove and who helped organise the event, said: “Unfortunately there were supposed to be eight participants jumping but the weather turned, meaning we couldn’t get the other four out there.

“All eight skydivers have contributed to the fundraising total and it was just a real shame they all couldn’t do it at the same time.”

Nikki McKinney, James McKinney, Kate Tomlin and Alice Munks have rescheduled for another day when hopefully the sun will shine for them.

Georgina added: “Those who jumped had a really god day. Caroline who is terrified of heights and flying has said if she was offered to do it again she would take the chance and George Harris enquired about a solo jump immediately after.”

l Dove Cottage is desperately seeking volunteers to help out in its tearoom. If you can spare a few days or hours call 01949 861950 for an application form.
