Pool users have not had use of shower facilities at the Dalby Road venue since it was permitted to reopen on April 12 as part of the government’s relaxing of Covid restrictions.

And several complained to the Melton Times about the issue and not being warned about it prior to returning to the baths.

Abigail Grewcock, contract manager for Everyone Active, which operates the centre for Melton Borough Council, told us: “We can confirm the showers in the swimming pool changing rooms at Waterfield Leisure Centre are currently unavailable.

“Essential work is being carried out and we have experts reviewing the issue in order to rectify it as soon as possible.

“We hope to receive confirmation by Monday next week that the showers can reopen but in the meantime, we would like to thank customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
