A grand gesture made to popular Melton Mowbray wellness centre
A Melton Mowbray wellness centre which has doubled its number of clients since moving to a new headquarters across town has been boosted by a cash donation of £1,000.
The money was given to Pepper’s – a Safe Place, which is based in Nottingham Street, by members of the local Freemasons group.

The friendly rooms at Pepper’s are set out with refreshments and activities, ranging from crafts, meditation, chair fitness and even gardening together with the Wellies group.
Jenny Hendry, the Melton centre’s manager, said “Since moving to our new premises on Nottingham Street, we have been able to help so many more men and women.
"The centre is accessible and is visible to everyone who walks by – people just pop in and see what we do.”
On the new funding support they’ve had from members of the St Mary’s Freemasons Lodge in Melton Mowbray, Jenny added: “This kind donation means we can put on more activities and provide refreshments for those who come in to see us needing kindness, a listening ear and a smile to make their day better.
"We are here to help any adult who is struggling with their mental health, loneliness or wants to look after their emotional wellbeing, which is so, so important.”
The Peppers Registered Charity was a result of the family of Mary Pepper, a well-known Rutland personality, wanting to continue her work.
