Packed audience enjoys 27th annual Melton Lions concert

Around 350 elderly people enjoyed the 27th annual Melton Mowbray Lions concert.

The event, at Melton Theatre, was a true variety show featuring entertainment acts from the local area.

The programme started with a delightful selection of dance routines from members of Trevonne Stage School.

Next, Yolanda Offodile sang songs from Legally Blonde and Sister Act, and the packed crowd enjoyed a performance from the Barbershop Quartet.

A firm favourite with the audience Lion Ben Barretto then got everyone singing along after the interval.

David Newton, a member of the Barbershop Quartet came on to do a solo spot and to round of the afternoon Melstrum Ukelele Orchestra had everyone toe-tapping and singing to an amusing medley of tunes.

Lions President Sabrina Tate thanked everyone for attending, with special references to Lions District Governor Balvinder Singh Sokhi and his wife Rashpal, Lions Zone Chair, Yvonne Cluley and Mayor David Wright and his wife Maureen.

Others who were highly praised included all performers, the show’s organisers Geoff Tate and Dave Robb, master of ceremonies Mark Frisby and Ian Cliffe back stage.

First Aid was provided by Carl and Tina Culley and Lions members gave their time to assist the audience, organise the raffle and provide free ice-creams during the interval.
