07/08/08 - Low value?

ON July 4 I received a letter from Paul Evans regarding grass mowing at the Tennyson Way/Keats Close junction in Melton.

In it he asserts that the different treatment of grass areas depends upon 'ownership', and agrees it is not a satisfactory arrangement.

It would seem that the houses overlooking the area of grass in question do not enjoy the same level of aesthetic quality as the those overlooking the grass area adjoining Nottingham Road/Kipling Drive, even though they may pay the same level of council tax.

I have canvassed opinion from several neighbours, and they are not happy.

As I look out of my office window on to the grass it is being used as a dog toilet. While most owners pick up after their animals I am sure some will not. Being rough, it is seen as something of low value.

I would like to see this grass cut more often and a few trees planted in it.
